Anne Rice has the rights for her Vampire Chronicles back, making fans very excited last year. The famous author, even more famous for having close interaction with fans on Facebook, went on there and posted: “Guys, we talk a lot about who can play Lestat. And we all know that if we don’t get that right, nothing else may matter. This is one series in which the star plays a super hero role. I am thinking an unknown will come to us for the part. But who are the up and coming young actors you all see and want to suggest? Include pix if you can. And any data. I love reading your responses.”

Of course that sent fans into a frenzy, and in no time she had hundreds of responses. Currently, it’s almost a thousand. There have been pitches for actors such as Evan Peters (American Horror Story), Bill Skarsgard (It), and more. The fan-favorite character Lestat has been brought to the big screen by Tom Cruise in Interview With The Vampire and by Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned. I personally think Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass in TV’s ‘Gossip Girl’) would be a perfect fit, but what do I know?

Anyways, Rice’s writer son Christopher will write and executive produce the series alongside his mother and David Kanter and Steve Golin.

Rice had announced last year that: “A television series of the highest quality is now my dream for Lestat, Louis, Armand, Marius and the entire tribe.” Additional details were presented by the writer in a Facebook Q&A on the TV show’s structure: The Vampire Lestat book will be covered in the first season; Interview With The Vampire will be getting its own season, and brand new characters will be introduced.

More details as we get them.
